It’s Gay Pride week and we thought it was a fitting time to show off this 2009 t-shirt design:

A twist on the classic Evolution of Man illustration
This Humerus take on the classic “Evolution of Man” was inspired by our own “Evolution of Zombie Man” image. (you knew I hand to mention Zombie here somewhere…
It’s currently available at http://humerus-store.com/evofmentsh.html
Check here for more original t shirt designs being prepped for Comic-con (teasers coming soon).

Yesterday we had another Comic-Con prep meeting and things are rockin! New product designs were gone over – some are done and ready to print, some still in development… racing to the July 22rd deadline. Did I say July 22? YIKES!
The big reveal was the new Humerus sign! Our logo has always been a parody of an X-Ray, and recently got cleaned up and updated (not even fixed on our site yet) – so when we wanted to upgrade from the foamcore sign we’ve used up until now an Xray seemed the natural way to go. Check it out:

Humerus X-Ray
I took the pic with my cel phone so it could be better. You’ll just have to come by our booth to experience it’s awesomeness in person!
We’ll post more about our Comic-Con preparations as the big event approaches… in just (gulp)… 28 days!

In the midst of all our preparations for San Diego Comic-Con International I’m flashing back (oh so far back) to 2006 – our f irst Comic-Con.
If you’ve ever been to San Diego for the premier pop culture event of the year you know how huge and overwhelming the massive show can be. In the summer of 2006 we were just starting to become Humerus and had only 1 shirt designed. We went to Comic-con to road test our idea.

Our First Humerus Design
There was no time to make an official appearance , but we did get shirts printed and walked around the floor with the only 4 Zombie Nixon for President shirts we had.
That was our learning year. In 2007 we had more designs, had some smaller shows under our belt, but couldn’t get a booth at the incredibly popular Comic-Con. Again we walked the floor in our shirts – talking them up to people, handed out flyers.

The Godfather of all Zombies says "These are Fantastic!"
We caught the attention of George Romero who paid us a great compliment - He reviewed our product sheet and said “These are Fantastic!” I’m still proud of that undocumented quote.

Our first Comic-Con booth was rockin!
They said it couldn’t be done, but last year, thanks to a last minute opportunity we got in! We expanded our line even more – and the crowd responded! We were the Zombie booth – with the big hit t shirt of the show - our Caution Zombie Crossing t shirt. Four rockin’ days of hanging out on the floor talking Zombie Humor with Zombie fanatics from all walks of life! We had a great time and were thrilled with the reaction to our stuff!
Now 2009 Comic-Con is almost here… (gulp) we’ve got a booth and we’ve got a lot to do… new stuff coming soon! I’ll keep blogging updates as the date approaches!

It’s been said many times, many ways… Change is a comin to these here United States… We’ve elected Barack Obama – the first computer literate president! This could be a new kind of President, President 2.0 or the iBama if you will.

He campaigned on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, he’s addicted to his Blackberry, and not only has an iPod, but uses it!
In a Rolling Stone interview this summer Obama revealed what is on his ipod… Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Rolling Stones, Elton John, Earth Wind And Fire, Coltrane, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Howlin’ Wolf, Yo-Yo Ma, Sheryl Crow, Jay-Z
It’s kind of exciting to have a President that is connected to the people… President Elect Obama has already started his weekly radio address… only he’d doing it on video on YouTube.com
We here at Humerus we were trying to get Zombie JFK or Zombie Reagan in the Oval office, but this is good too. We’re retiring those old Zombie President designs in favor of this new change… we welcome The Era of iBama.

I wish we’d thought of this!
I can’t tell you how many conversations about movies we’ve had that have verified the inescapable conclusion that there are only 2 politically acceptable ‘kills’ in moviedom – zombies and Nazis.
Pretty much any other victim you can think of someone has come up with a politically correcty sympathy angle that takes all the fun out of blatantly killing the bad guy. Star Trek tamed the Borg, Darth Vader just wanted to be loved, Norman Bates really was a nice guy deep down… But with zombies – the mindless marauding undead you’ve got a free pass to hack, slash, burn and shoot them by the dozens. Same with Nazis… they are on the side of evil and everyone agrees they’re unsympathetic fair game in the movies.
So when I saw the trailer for DEAD SNOW I was thunderstruck by the obvious. How did no one else come up with this? How did WE not come up with this ourselves… ZOMBIE NAZIS!
Could there be any easier to fear, easier to hate, more satisfying to kill bad guys?
Now it’s one thing to grab some friends and make a cheesy low budget zombie movie… and kudos to all who do… but to make a Zombie Nazi movie – in the snow packed mountains… AND get selected by the Sundance Film Festival? These guys certifiably brilliant.
I can’t wait to see DEAD SNOW – if not for any of the above reasons, then for their killer tag line:
EIN! ZWEI! DIE!

An under recognized literary movement is the world of Zombie Poetry. Great works created by the living and the post-living have gone unrecognized for generations. One of our great hopes is that our blog can serve as a place to bring some of the world’s great undead poetry to light.
This short piece was found in a midwest farmhouse after a late summer Zombie gathering. The author and recipient are unknown. Though it is believed that the former ate the later before moving on to gardens further east.

“The roses are dead
after months of no rains
don’t come out to save them
or we’ll feed on your brains”
If you have created or discovered Zombie Poetry please feel free to send it to us for publication here. Together we can help keep this art form alive… or, well, you know.
